Joseph Skelley: Running in Memory of Alexander

Joseph Skelley is running the London Marathon in memory of Alexander Jansons, who tragically died from a sudden heart attack caused by myocarditis when he was just 18 years old.

Alexander was the best friend of Joseph’s brother, Jonathan, and his death had a profound impact on those who knew him. “I’m running the marathon in memory of Alexander Jansons, my brother Jonathan’s best friend, who tragically died from a sudden heart attack when he was 18 due to myocarditis.”

Having seen the devastating effect such a loss has on families and friends, Joseph wants to help ensure more people understand the condition and that research continues to progress.

“I’ve witnessed firsthand the devastating impact it has on those left behind and feel honoured to be able to help find a cure by raising funds and awareness for Myocarditis UK.”

Andrew Neenan: Running Again for Myocarditis UK

Andrew Neenan is no stranger to marathon fundraising for Myocarditis UK. This will be the second time he has taken on a major challenge in support of the charity.

In 2024, Andrew completed the Brighton Marathon for Myocarditis UK after hearing about the charity through Andy Jansons’s wife, Alex Jansons, who is a colleague and a close friend.

“I know Alex Jansons as a work colleague and friend, and she spoke so passionately about the charity and how it all started,” Andrew explains. “I think it’s vitally important to raise awareness of myocarditis, as it has such a huge impact on those affected.”

Running has become a big part of Andrew’s life, having completed the Valencia Marathon in December 2025.

“My training so far is going well. I am training to run the Valencia Marathon in December this year, so I am well on the way to being ‘race ready’.”

After a short festive break, Andrew plans to ramp up his training again in the new year as the miles start to build ahead of the London Marathon.
